Patrick Boling, the big lefty from Cartersville who was expected to be one of the aces of the 08 Yankees staff, injured his arm midway through the high school season and will be undergoing Tommy John surgery.  He will be sorely missed this summer, but should be back in time for next high school and summer seasons.

In the news:

Gordon Beckham has been named SEC Player of the Week for last week's accomplishments.  Going into this weekend's series, Beckham is hitting over .500 for the season, with 11 HR's and 27 RBI's already. 

Michael Demperio and Ryan Piesel are both hitting over .300 for the season as well, and Trevor Holder is the Friday night starter for the Bulldogs, and Brent Hallman recently got his first start for the Bulldogs after a redshirt freshman year and an injury last season.
