Week of June 7th

This years Major League Baseball Free Agent draft saw 13 Yankees and ex-Yankees picked.  As expected, Chris Nelson capped off his unbelievable comeback from Tommy John surgery when Colorado picked the shortstop 9th overall in the country.  Steven Drew quickly followed as the Arizona Diamondbacks made him their 1st pick, 15th overall in the draft.  The 2 picks were the 8th and 9th Yankees all-time to be chosen in the 1st round.

With the selections above, the 2001 World Championship club now has 10 players off that team that have been drafted, including 2 first rounders (Jeremy Hermida and Steven Drew), 1 second rounder (Micah Owings), 1 3rd rounder (Scott White), and 1 4th rounder (Brandon Boggs).
 
1999's World Championship team included 13 professional draftees,  2000's team had 13 draftees,  2002's club had 11, and to date, the 2003 Championship club has had 8 players drafted.
