Yankees News and Notes
Week of June 11th
Jon Mark Owings hit a monster home run late in the game and was named the MVP of Monday's High School All-American game, played in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Owings shot left the stadium.  His MVP award marked the second straight  All-American game that has seen an East Cobb Yankee win that award.  In last August's inaugural AFLAC All-American game, the Yankees Chris Nelson garnered the MVP award, even though he played with a torn ligament in his arm that was repaired a month later. The High School All-American game also included Yankees Dexter Fowler, Luke Putkonen, and Nelson, although Nelson opted not to attend due to his heavy pre-draft workout schedule.  Fowler was awarded the National Player of the Year Award.

The 2004 AFLAC game will include Yankees' pitcher Miers Quigley.  Information on this event can be seen at http://www.aflacallamerican.com.
