Here Comes Summer!
Our seasons are about to get started in just a few short weeks! Let's go have some fun.
Honoring Herschel- Let's Go Yanks!
This year we said goodbye to one of our own, Herschel Bloom. Herschel, one of our longtime coaches who many would consider the face (and voice) of the Yankees, has been an integral part of our family for over 35 years. As coach Beaver's longtime partner on the Yankee bench, he will be dearly missed and forever honored.
A message from Coach Beavers
Herschel and I met at a baseball game I was coaching early in my career at Chastain Park, and the rest is history. We were together from there on out. Always close to our hearts, we will continue to honor Herschel by including the #6 on our jersey tops as well as patches for our hats.
Herschel passed away earlier this year due to complications from Parkinsons Disease. Not only was he a best friend and confidant, he was hugely instrumental in the long-time success of the Yankees. One of the biggest regrets I have for our current Yankees is that they never had the opportunity to know the real Hersch. The disease had been hard on him in the last few years from a physical standpoint, and he wasn’t able to be his usual self: a wonderful, brilliant, funny and loving persons--one of the best you would have ever met.
Herschel's brilliance often came to play when finding the perfect nickname for our players. We will miss his knack for giving every player the perfect name--most of which have stuck with players for their entire life. Everyone who met Hersch was affected in some way by him. Whether he gave you a nickname, a smile, or a conversation, he truly was one of the most special people you would ever know.
Not only was he a great baseball mind and huge baseball fan, he was also one of the preeminent tax attorneys in America. As a Harvard graduate, he started the tax division at King and Spalding, which became world famous. Legendary in the tax law field, Herschel was highly sought after. The US Treasury department often requested his advice on tax regulations that they imposed. He even turned down an opportunity to be in President Clinton’s cabinet. He was tax counsel to companies like GE and Coca Cola and many more Fortune 500 companies. He was one of Arthur Blank’s attorneys involved in his purchase of the Atlanta Falcons. I could go on and on about this great man and all of the accomplishments. He was also just the perfect friend.
I could fill books upon books with all of the baseball stories we have shared over the years. A bigger than life personality who we will all miss. The bench will be missing a big part this year in life, but I know he’ll be at every game in spirit hollering for us to put up a crooked number and shouting a "Let's go Yanks!".
Big Hersch, gonna miss you buddy!

Once A Yankee...
Coach Beavers and the boys enjoyed a visit from some fine gentleman of the MLB. Yankee Alum Dansby Swanson, Kyle Farmer, and Tyler Stephenson took some time to work out with the Yankees to get ready for spring training!
